Gmat: The First Step to Gaining the Mba

Are you an adult learner? Has it been years since you completed your undergraduate degree? Are you inspecting working towards a Mba or a Ms Specialty degree (Ms Management, Ms Finance, Ms Human Resources, etc.)?

The First Step towards that master's degree might be taking the Gmat (Graduate supervision Admission Test). Here are some ideas to keep in mind about the Gmat:

1) Many Mba Programs require the Gmat. However, most online Mba programs do not and most for-profit schools do not. (Examples of For-Profit schools are: University of Phoenix, Kaplan University, Northcentral University, Capella University).

2) The top 25% of company schools in the country are more competing and normally have attained the Aacsb accreditation (Association to progress Collegiate Schools of Business). Almost all Aacsb schools will require the Gmat as part of the admission process.

3) The Gmat is normally Not required for the Ms Specialty degrees. This degree is a good alternative to the Mba, with a focus on a single area of business. Some of the Ms Specialty degrees online are:

Ms project Management; Ms Organizational Communications; Ms Sustainability Management; Ms Banking and Finance; Ms company Ethics; Ms Economic Crime Management

4) The Gmat scores range from 0 - 800, with a 500 to 630 median score for most Mba programs. competing schools require a 580 or above, while your local state university may only require a 500.

5) Some Mba schools admit from a formula: Gpa X 200 + Gmat = 1050 or higher. If you have an undergraduate Gpa under 3.0, you can still be admitted to a company school if you can get a higher score on the Gmat. For example, 2.6 undergraduate Gpa would require a 530 on the Gmat.

6) The Gmat tests your College Algebra, among other knowledge and skills. If your College Algebra is rusty, there are free test prep programs on the Internet. One example is: http://www.testprepreview.com

7) A good beginning places to learn about the area of the Gmat, the locations and dates of testing and other facts is: http://www.gmac.com

8) learning for the Gmat can be done in some ways. The Mba/Gmat websites have testing facts or you can get a Gmat Study Guide. You might find Gmat Test Prep classes at your local society college or through lasting study at your local state university.
